The k2 summit method: Every recovery is a climb. every summit is different.
At K2 Physical Therapy and Performance Training, we believe recovery isn’t just about getting out of pain - it’s about becoming stronger, more resilient, and more confident than before.
Just like climbing a mountain, every journey begins at base camp and progresses through intentional stages. You can’t safely reach the summit by skipping camps, and lasting recovery happens by building each level on the one before it.
Our goal isn’t to simply help you recover.
Our goal is to help you Come Back Stronger.
Camp 1: “Calm the Storm”:
“You can’t climb while the mountain is still shaking.”
Primary Goal: decrease pain and irritability while identifying the true source of the problem.
What we’re looking for:
Why does it hurt?
What movements increase the symptoms?
What tissues/systems are involved?
What activities need temporary modification?
What is the root cause - not just the symptoms?
Camp 2: Build the Foundation
“A strong summit starts with a solid base.”
Pain relief isn’t enough.
Now we rebuild the movement quality your body depends on.
Primary Goal: restore the foundational movement patterns that allow your body to move more efficiently.
What we’re building:
Mobility
Stability
Balance
Motor control
Breathing mechanics
Joint positioning
Movement confidence
Questions we ask:
Can you……
squat well?
hinge correctly?
Balance?
Rotate?
Control one leg?
Move without compensation?
Camp 3: Build Capacity:
“Strong enough isn’t the goal. Resilient enough is.”
This is where recovery becomes preparation.
Now we’re building a body that can handle the demands on your life, work, or sport - not just today, but in the future.
Primary goal: Increase your body’s capacity to tolerate the activities you love with confidence and resilience.
What capacity means:
Strength
Endurance
Tissue tolerance
Power
Work capacity
Confidence
Recovery ability
What we ask:
Can your body tolerate…..
Practice?
Work?
Long walks?
Weekend tournaments?
Multiple games?
Back-to-back training days?
Summit: Come Back Stronger
“The summit isn’t the finish line - it’s where confidence returns.”
This is what makes K2 different.
Being pain-free does not automatically mean that you’re ready.
Our goal is to make sure you’re prepared for real life - not just discharged from therapy.
Primary goal: Return to your sport, work, hobbies, and life with strength, confidence, and reduced risk of reinjury.
Performance focus:
Return-to-play testing
Agility
Sprint mechanics
Jump mechanics
Landing control
Cutting
Reactive drills
Sport-specific movement
Confidence under load
Success for us looks like:
You’re physically ready
You’re mentally confident
You’ve met objective performance goals
You’re prepared - not just cleared.
